Right here’s a little bit of life recently together with a tomato-themed dinner at Veritas and a nature hike we took with Birch.

Supper Sequence at Veritas

Veritas is one in every of my favourite vineyards on the town as a result of they achieve this many enjoyable occasions. From Starry Nights concert events to the Veritas Illuminated winter lights excursions to the Supper Sequence dinners all summer season. Final yr I went with my good friend group to “The French Cafe” and this yr we did a second annual dinner with a tomato theme!

This dinner was a partnership with Veritas and David Hunsaker from Village Backyard RVA. With over 20 years of farming expertise, David has cultivated greater than 400 forms of tomatoes and 100 kinds of chiles. We loved loads of summer season tomatoes and discovered about a few of the extra distinctive varieties through the dinner.

Our Menu

LOVED the tomato salad with candy chili, basil, and garlic. Tomatoes at their most interesting!

We additionally loved chickpeas with summer season eggplant.

And cioppinno with contemporary seafood and shaved fennel.

And dessert was a Basque Goat Cheese Cheesecake. (TBH, the tomato jam was not my favourite!)

When you’re excited about attending an upcoming Supper Sequence dinner, there are two extra to return:

Nature Hike

On Saturday Thomas and I took Birch on a nature hike to Ivy Creek. This candy little one was SO EXCITED to go mountaineering!

He liked throwing rocks in creek.

We additionally noticed this very cool owl!!

Tortoise and the Hare

Birch additionally was very proud to win 4th place in a youngsters working dash for his age group at a youngsters monitor membership! Go Birch!

I used to be proud to simply end my run after I did a small group session at ACAC. I’m respectable at weights, stairs, and agility, however man working the monitor sucked the life out of me!! Patrick and I tied for reddest face although!

Mazen has been loving his fishing camp once more this yr. He despatched me this pic of 1 he caught on a really inexperienced pond!

We FINALLY made it to the pool after many makes an attempt that began with blue skies and ended like this by the point we received there. Principally a pool on our porch!

However we loved a gorgeous Sunday with no rain final weekend. I fulfilled my dream of doing my three favourite pool actions: studying, floating on a raft with out getting tipped over, and consuming watermelon!

Fishwife

Fishwife despatched me a few of their tinned fish being the sardine lover that I’m: Albacore Tuna, Sardines in Lemon, and Smoked Trout. All three have been superb! Plus are these not the prettiest packages ever?!

We loved sardine salad on the finish of our hike.

Kath Eats Summer season Meals

Sunday dinner: Roasted dill salmon, rosemary potatoes, and caprese tomatoes.

One of the best Blue Apron skillet dinner. I’m going to recreate this! It was like a deconstructed enchilada.

One other Blue Apron winner: tacky rooster, beans, and garlic bread.

Mozzarella and heirloom tomato sandwich with summer season cherries

And Holly’s birthday brunch at Birch and Bloom! Cherished the deconstructed smoked salmon toast.

We’re heading to the seashore tomorrow for one final summer season hurrah and a household reunion with Thomas’s facet. Then it’s just about again to high school!
